Wow, for real!

I think it depends a lot on your approach. Sometimes you have to do it for the sake of story length or clarity, but I have a friend who had a writing teacher present it as "if you really like something you wrote that means it's crap, delete it" and that was the most toxic advice EVER.

I think I'd have to reverse the em dash and the semicolon to for me. Boy, do I overuse those! lol
