Reforming this court is imperative. Ethics rules and term limits alone cannot fully restore balance and independence to #SCOTUS. But today’s announcement is a watershed moment in the fight to take back the court. Our stmt from @liptonlubet.bsky.social:

This is very cool. Problems can be solved!
I know many other cities beat us to this, but the fact that Baltimore's Inner Harbor is now more or less swimmable is a wonderful thing. Plus, we have Mr. Trash Wheel and the other Trash Wheels! www.washingtonpost.com/opinions/202...

The attempted assassination of Donald Trump does not erase the crimes that Trump himself has committed against American democracy, or the crimes he would commit if given the chance, and no one is obligated to pretend otherwise www.theatlantic.com/politics/arc...

This is against evidence, against popular support, and the minister’s stated reasons don’t even make sense.
So expanded urban footprint, fewer controls on landlords, foreign investment/ownership, MUCH smaller dwellings and now no insulation. Welcome to the modern kiwi slums #nzpol #newzealand www.rnz.co.nz/news/nationa...

To those who are all “Why would Trump want Vance?! Vance denounced him, called him a Hitler?!” To Trump, the capitulation is part of the attraction. Trump feels like he can dominate Vance, overwhelm Vance, etc. That’s a huge part of the attraction for a deeply insecure narcissist like Trump.

A lot of progressive accounts are spreading this claim and it is not true. I have verified the FEC records myself. They match the alleged gunman's street address.

Political violence, no matter the target, is never a good sign for transparency, democracy, & peaceful transfer of power/acceptance of electoral processes. Jan 6 2020, July 13 2024… escalating violence increases the likelihood of violent extremist acts.

Looks like that hour-long press conference from Biden was a bit of a rorschach test, in that if you thought he should step down you saw more evidence that he should, and if you thought he shouldn't step down, you saw evidence that he shouldn't.

There is a lot of research on this. Learning about racism doesn't make white kids feel guilty. Here is what it does. Summary of some of the studies here: fivethirtyeight.com/features/wha...
Without even clicking the link, I’ll guess the reason — all the talk of racism makes white kids feel guilty. Again, if your kids are reading histories of slavery or segregation and identifying with the racists in the story, that suggests you’ve got your own problems to work through. Leave us out.
