Baking therapy. Cheddar cheese chive buttermilk drop biscuits. Crispy golden-brown on outside, fluffy interior despite fact I doubled the amount of cheddar. I need to taste the cheese! I sprinkled a little cheddar on top of some. Next time, all of them! I want to eat all the biscuits!!
My reading companion. Moment I sit outside, he lands on my kobo eReader. I don’t know what kind of fly he is, but he sure likes electronic books! #AmReading 🪰
Despite sparrows and squirrels entertaining me, unresolved stupid stuff keep sucking my energy. It’s not that they’re hard, it’s that people are procrastinating. Not weeks or months. But fucking years! All they have to do is spend an hour or less on due diligence. But noooo! I have to keep calling🤬😩
My neighbour’s healthy traditional AC keeps waking me up! I can’t hear my heat pump outdoor unit but I sure can their AC. 😳😠 Cities could set noise maximums to force heat pumps over trad ACs. Thankfully my CES 100Hz zonked me out faster than usual last night! www.psychologytoday.com/us/blog/conc...
Been weeks since I baked.😱Today being coolest day of the week - only 30C - I baked brown sugar brownies aka blondies aka not enough brown sugar so used maple syrup+regular sugar. Took a cue from my Aunt who’d toss spare goat milk into her baking and added buttermilk. Choc chips, pecans, nibs too. 😋
These aren’t the ones in Canadian branches but American branches with US-based bank accounts designed for Canadians working in the US. Only RBC and I think TD has them. BMO doesn’t.
I’m pretty sure this was a bumblebee buzzing busily among the purple spiderwort flowers. Really hard capturing him as he didn’t stay still gathering all that yellow pollen.
I like to bake as well. I’ve been learning how to incorporate the tangzhoung method - so fluffy results - and I tried my hand at using whole grain flour for croissants. That’s a lovely cup!
@debbieohi.com When I search for your GIFs here, Tenor serves up only 2!! Unlike GIPHY on Signal. Do you know how I can see all of them? I thought you’d uploaded more than 2?
Following Claire at NYT’s method, I pre-rolled the dough late last night. Too bad the auroras didn’t keep me company! Silly clouds. The sun came out this morn to watch me cut and shape plain, cheese, chocolate, and cinnamon croissants. 😮💨Put some in freezer, cinnamon one in fridge for later.
Soooo…I’m trying my hand again at making whole grain croissants. It’s been years and years. The hard part is figuring out when the shaped croissants have risen properly. I found a great YouTube detailed instructions, and I’m using a combo of that NYT recipe with ATK’s. 🤞 TG for dough hooks!
That looks heavenly. I see you had as many contrails as we did here. Was there more plane traffic than usual or the blue sky just showed them off better?
I’m waiting for all the flowering pear trees to finish before I go back out. Or maybe I’ll just wear a mask so I can enjoy the outdoors 🤧 free!
I like all sorts of breads. I’ve recently become partial to the tangzhong method. I made cheese rolls with it a few days ago and am still learning best practices with it, like completely cool the rolls in the pan.😄 (My cheese rolls are never cheesy enough) www.kingarthurbaking.com/blog/2018/03...
Tried making cheese buns with the tangzhong method. Recipe called for garlic powder. Nope. Next time no garlic. But why can I hardly ever taste the cheese in buns or biscuits? Maybe I need to keep cheese in chunks?
I’ve run out of cookies in the freezer. So I’m baking chocolate oatmeal peanut butter almond with chocolate chips cookies. Because I’m nutty extra that way. Going to be attending a workshop on writing romance. I’ll need the fuel!
What the—? It’s in my planter. Did a predator drop it from the sky? Or a human gift it? What is it anyway? (Yeah, I know it’s a skull but what species. It’s like a big hand span long.) 🤢
Do shadows really sharpen during a #SolarEclipse? I set up a chair to photograph its shadows. I didn’t get many done because the clouds rolled in. Stupid clouds ruining the show! *grumbles*
I did see shadows from the chair and trees begin to sharpen. Pretty neat.
Alrighty, photo time! Clouds reveal colour shifting. Eclipse reflection 32 minutes after the #SolarEclipse started. The last photo I was able to take before the clouds rolled in was at 2:42; first one after peak (3:19PM) was at 3:37. Best part: view through the eclipse glasses! flic.kr/s/aHsm39VsnU
