there are a lot of very good takes on this already, and i don't have anything else to add to them.
all I can say is that I have never been named part of the "very, very common crowd" but if that's what we are here, then I'm very very happy to be very very common with all of you!
Jack Dorsey's problem with Bluesky is...moderation. And the absence of Nazis.
"they started asking Jay and the team for moderation tools, and to kick people off. And unfortunately they followed through with it. That was the second moment I though, uh, nope."

I know what Jack said is insulting AF to the crew (esp Jay plus the crew back when blocks got enabled) but what the FUCK, it’s also insulting to the folks who are thriving here and then again to the people (ie whoever was on staff around the night of Saint Hannah the Hammer) who made what we needed
Fuck off, this place was a lifeboat and I really appreciate that Bloosky paused to make the test platform a better lifeboat.
Emergent value is really cool and appreciate being cared for like that.
I also like the pattern of the rest of the devs coming in aligning with that cultural goal.
I’m still amped about the long term abilities of the protocol itself (not just composable moderation. Blogs and Voice are SoFuckingCool!)
But! The choices for new devs and the way “it’s also a home” has been maintained? I do in fact appreciate it, perfect or not.
And just entirely detached from reality. “Common” means either not a billionaire or “living in the actual carbon based world”, I don’t have another sustainable model?
