Montreal's sponge parks, designed in a way to deviate as much rain water as possible away from the sewers, have saved a bunch of areas from flooding due to Beryl's rainfall. So you get really nice parks in a major city, with a bonus against flooding. They're making more of them now and I love it

They built one in downtown PDX and it they’re just like… so much better looking than “lawn” style parks, too? Plus: birbs like it!

If you like the sponge parks, you’ll love the sponge sidewalks - we have so many in our neighborhood, advertised as traffic calming measures when they first started installing them. They really dropped the ball promoting them that way as the auto-philiacs got all frothy about that.
