Montreal sponge parks soak up the stormmontreal.ctvnews.ca After over 100 millimetres of rain pummelled Montreal Wednesday evening, some Montreal streets saw less flooding, and sponge parks played a big part in soaking up the precipitation.

They built one in downtown PDX and it they’re just like… so much better looking than “lawn” style parks, too? Plus: birbs like it!

If you like the sponge parks, you’ll love the sponge sidewalks - we have so many in our neighborhood, advertised as traffic calming measures when they first started installing them. They really dropped the ball promoting them that way as the auto-philiacs got all frothy about that.
