I’m teaching American history at the Universite de Lille (France) and doing research on federal judges in the South during the civil rights movement (among other topics)
@kevinmkruse.bsky.social this document might interest you (from the Darby case in Mississippi, 1956…when the DoJ didn’t want to get too involved)
Looking forward reading your Doar book 😉

Of course I was up at 4am 🙄 because of the jet lag.

Today we remember the exceptional Marc Bloch, murdered by the Nazis 80 years ago.
Bloch, a French Jew, was a remarkable patriot, veteran of WW1, volunteer for WW2 and Resistant. And he also was one of the most important French historians of the 20th century.
Another disappointment…despite the good effort of the comedians, the production is way too conceptual…if you haven’t read the play you can’t understand it. That’s offensive to most of the public 🙄
Currently at the Musée du Quai Branly, very close to the Eiffel Tower, you can see a great exhibition about the Mexicas, the last civilization of Mexico. Great artefacts from the Templo Mayor and the collections of both Mexico & Paris (until early September, 14€ for adults, free for children)
I’m watching #GameOfThrones again and I have to say that my favorite character now is definitely Sam.
Fearful, cowardly, but bright and bookish !
Sam is a metaphor of most academics 😂
