We got an unexpected thunderstorm this afternoon. Temperature dropped from 99F to 75F in less than 30 minutes. We got well over an inch of rain - a big bonus in July, one of our 2 driest months.
This sweet floof belongs to a friend in another state.
Saffie was adopted at 3 months old. She was rescued from a hoarder. She had no left eye since birth.
She’s now 3 years old. And a really sweet cat.

Nikki Giovanni spoke this morning at the Austin African American Book Festival. She is a poet who has been sharing her prose since the 1960s. She’s 81. And still killin’ it. She came to speak and I wish others had been able to hear her.

I have already trimmed back a lot of plants due to heat. They dry out really fast and become fuel for wildfires. The natives usually come back with cooler weather and rain. The trees get the worst of it. Trees lose leaves when they are stressed. Turn yellow and fall off.
If you know any potters, see if they can make you one of these. I have two (the other is green). The rim has holes for hanging earrings. Bowl can be used to store lots of things. (Don’t recommend necklaces!)

Lots of pretty colors on the weather radar. The red part is on the Gulf coast. They are soaked. Corpus Christi folks on the water are having to get out - and they never received an evacuation order. Someone in local or state government failed. High tide will be serious for the coast.
