Read #project2025. Love this one which does not get to say who decides what is counter to American interests.

I never had to sign a loyalty oath in the People’s Republic of China, but you go ahead Project 2025.

I read project 2025 on defense. Mostly platitudes but it is a spend, spend, spend mantra—except on soldiers. Recruiting targets could be met with—a pay increase? Oh and transgender people caused every problem in the military.

Reading the defense part: reducing number of generals and allowing promotion for “war fighting prowess.’ A massive failure to understand logistics. Of course without promotion opportunities, many officers will leave.

It all happens on X!

My general response to Trumpers in my life: I refuse to take you seriously because you do not take yourself seriously. Ergo, I will have noticed your silence and encouragement about the violence against the Pelosi's. And then, just repeat: "I refuse...." until they shut up.

Since I am retiring, we are pointedly undertaking our first September vacation. We are also pointedly visiting America before the election.

My take that is not too far out: future history textbooks will spend more time talking about the rise of rap music than the Reagan Administration.

Who does not spend more time on jazz music rather than the Harding/Coolidge Administrations?

As a staunch opponent of political violence, I greatly prefer when national leaders respond to it by condemning violence and expressing concern for victims (image 1) rather than encouraging violence and laughing at victims (image 2).

Reagan’s bump led to his tax bill getting passed if I remember, not about winning an election. The 1982 midterms were brutal for Republicans if I remember as well.

Out of all of institutions for which I have worked, only one administrator got me all the money that was promised to me. He is currently in prison. Just saying.

I really like how you can hear the privilege in the voice of Carrie Fisher as Princess Leia. What a performance.

I guarantee you that if Biden drops out, the people who said "I was only worried about his age" will find a different reason to vote against the Democratic nominee.

If you read up on these people with lucrative "side hustles," the article inevitably gets to the "we have a youtube channel urging people to develop side hustles" stage at the end of the article.

Finally one of my wanted list of songs not on iTunes is now on iTunes. Nicole Kidman and Euan MacGregor, "Come What May [Josh G. Abraham Mix]," from Moulin Rouge. Now if only the Estate of Prince gets its act together.

I am trying to talk politics less here, but I am 100% behind Joe Biden and Kamala Harris. I have canceled my NYTimes subscription. Had not my wapo subscription renewed annually one week before the debate, I would cancel them. I have now subscribed to the Philly Inquirer.

Pro tip (I hate that phrase). How about experienced resident of China. Keep all of your old passports readily available. For some reason they always want them even if they are expired.

The official 2024 GOP platform makes a reference to "Christian-hating Communists" who the Republicans will keep from entering the country. Back in the early days of the America First movement, "Christian-hating Communists" would have just been a longer way of saying "Jews."
