What I hear is an intent to criminally investigate misconduct by people in government who committed serious crimes, violation of civil rights under color of law. Putting people in prison for political protests for years and the like.

As I stated in late December 2020 when I warned that J6 was going to happen, the correct response was for Pelosi to have used her authority to declare it a special security event and asked for a fence and the national guard.
She explicitly refused, saying it would "give oxygen" to the MAGA threats.
Pelosi is no more in charge of Capitol security than Mitch McConnell. The decision not to fortify the Capitol or activate NG was made by the Capitol Police Board. Public testimony has made it clear neither Pelosi or McConnell were even aware of the Board's internal debate about security.
