The story I heard about this scene was that Brooks wasn't happy with how it was going, and the "you know, morons" was an ad lib by Wilder after a bunch of re-shoots.
Absolute legend.
And Little's laugh is genuine. He was laughing at Wilder's ad lib. It's such a wonderful moment of them connecting to each other.
I had never heard that full story but the way it plays always made me think that the corpse was real. Lovely to finally have confirmation!
