Elderqueer (he/him) out since the '70s. Former Chicago newspaper guy, from copy boy to boardroom via points between. Friend of facts. At home in Key West, missing my late husband after 36 years together.

I'm a brain doc (Consultation-Liaison psych). For *years* Trump’s shown uninterrupted, increasingly severe cognitive symptoms: he's incapable of linear thought at baseline. Whatever disrupted Biden's linear thought in debate is at worst intermittent. Bonus: he's not an overt fascist. Not The Story!

Two grackles were raising a racket in my mussaenda, not their usual haunt, clacking and flitting as if the branches were electrified. Then the cause of their concern hopped onto the porch, a fledgling still in flight school. It didn't look sick or injured, just puzzled, so I didn't interfere. 1/2 📷

Happy Independence Day. This is "Mooning Jesse," a basswood work I have on a guest room wall. Folk artist Ned Cartledge carved and painted it in 1991 to protest Sen. Jesse Helms's attempts to cut National Endowment for the Arts funds for controversial projects. Now I can call it "Mooning Ron."📷 1/7

I know it's been said a lot but the conservative legal project is to make sure no right-wing agitator, murderer, terrorist, or rebel is ever punished for anything they do in pursuit of their complete domination of the rest of the country

Please pardon my provincial brag, but it's our mayor's birthday, and she's worth celebrating. Teri Johnston is the first lesbian to hold the office, and she's terrific. We elected Richard Heyman, a gay man, mayor in 1983 and 1987, among the first out and proud LGBTQ officeholders in the country. 📷🌈

The number of Google searches for Project 2025 skyrocketed after Taraji P. Henson mentioned it during her BET Awards appearance and encouraged the audience watching to Google it. That single black woman did more for liberal causes than all the current DNC leaders and the candidates themselves.

There have been 24 Atlantic storms in the Satellite Era (1966-present) which have gone through a >70kt rapid intensification within a 36-hour period. (Min start of 35kt) All of those storms originally formed in Aug, Sep, Oct, or Nov. Until Beryl. #Beryl is doing this in June.

Tropical trash: "Self-cleaners" like my Christmas palms only do half the job. They conveniently drop their dead fronds, rather than making you trim them. Not so their big, heavy flower stalks, which bring out the extendable pole saws, and liniment for aching shoulders. 🌱📷
