that sounds very normal? what's the point of them sharing this?

This kind of coverage would eviscerate me. “Staffers report that swamplizard feels tired ‘all the time’ for ‘no reason.’ Even drinking stimulants doesn’t help, but he does it anyway. ‘I take naps even though they make me feel like I’m about to die,’ he was overheard saying at a campaign event”

seriously. i hate both trump and biden, and also… bsky.app/profile/m00p...
i mean. i don’t think presidents should exist. one small small reason for that is exactly because expecting the leader of hundreds of millions of people to be “on” and scrutiny-ready every single second of their life makes no sense, esp not in a world where everyone’s slowly getting long covid.

also, love that i got blocked (by someone who previously seemed to have some understanding of disability justice) in that thread for pointing out ableist trump diaper jokes just hurt regular disabled people who need diapers to participate in society 🙄

It is so awful that people find the need to go to age and cognitive issues and physical insults / etc to criticise *GENOCIDE* Joe and trump as though there was no other criticism to levy against these two

I agree with you, but it is a big problem if he has dementia.
Avatar
If he genuinely has dementia, he and everyone around him has a responsibility to find a new candidate as quickly as possible. I'm making light of it above because most of what I've seen could also be consistent with normal age-related cognitive decline (which is still a factor). But it could be.

It absolutely is but / also genocide and fucking the pandemic response and expanding the police and and and are all the reasons I HAVE BEEN FUCKING SCREAMING HE NEEDS TO BE REPLACED FOR FIVE GOD DAMNED YEARS. Him being another Reagan is just icing on the cake.
Avatar
Same here. He should be in a prison cell right now, not running for president.
Avatar
yeah, i don’t disagree that it’s not fair to anyone to have two potentially dementia-having candidates as our main choices. no one should be expected to work in that condition, and we shouldn’t be subjected to the outcomes of said person continuing to work.
Avatar
it’s just really fucking hard for people to have that kind of nuanced discussion without it devolving into ableism, i think.
Avatar
It is incredibly challenging and ableism is so deeply part of our culture and language that even people who have struggled with ridding themselves of it have a hard time and many haven’t even begun to work on it or even just to become a bit aware of it
Avatar
It is legit cruel to them and one reason I think Jill is low-key as vile as Nancy Reagan

yeah, like, your whole experience of yourself and the world is changing drastically and permanently. things are becoming unfamiliar and scary. go be at home with loved ones and all those caregivers you can afford, don’t waste your remaining time on a job that can kill millions.

Yup and I’m not a doctor and even if I were couldn’t diagnose him remotely from videos but it’s long been undeniable from videos of him that he is often confused and loses track of what he is talking about and is often barely able to construct anything resembling a coherent sentence like Feinstein

Also as someone who has a stutter and who has seen this guy speaking in the past without any such issues I so hate this 「 it’s just a stutter ! 」 BS

Yeah, I’m a speech-language pathologist and none of his issues during the debate looked like a fluency disorder. It can indirectly impact speech (he has to use more cognitive resources to compensate, avoid certain words, use fluency-enhancing strategies), but he mainly looked overwhelmed.
