in 2013 I saw a man get a 100,000 hour probation on the SomethingAwful forums and today I saw him come off probation and immediately pick up the same argument, quoting a reply from 2013, absolute next-level hater, I can't even imagine, my man is the Count of Monte Posters

One win from a return to the USOC Final, and 25 pts from the last 13 league matches. Pretty good time to be a Sounder.

That world weary goal celebration from Jordan. I guess sprinting past dudes and shaking defenders off his shoulder like dust in 90° heat can be draining though.

Great pass from RBW, great run and tidy finish from JMo 💙💚

Perfect scheduling for the Sounders in Sacramento. Weather taking a one day break from 110° temps. Looks actually slightly cooler at kickoff and an earlier sunset than it would be in Seattle.

Well, well, well. WELL. That whole “protests made cops feel bad so they all quit” narrative? Looks like it was mostly myth. Excited to read this paper by Ben Grunwald, who compiled a huge dataset on post-2020 police employment. Agg decline was 1%… and bigger local declines not tied to protests.

"The University of Farmington was even listed on the website of ICE as a school approved by the U.S. government for students. It seemed real to its 600-plus students, a majority of them immigrants from India interested in studying technology and science."

Oh wow, I should have anticipated where this thread was going but I didn't 🧪
When an article says "some scientists think" then remember this: I, a scientist, once thought I could fit a whole orange in my mouth. I could, it turns out, get it in there, but I hadn't given sufficient thought to the reverse operation.

Global temperatures were extremely hot in June 2024, at just over 1.5C, beating June 2023's previous record-setting temperatures by 0.14C and coming in around 0.4C warmer than 2016 (the last major El Nino event). Now 2024 is very likely to beat 2023 as the warmest year on record
