One way to boost midlist authors now, if you're a person who gives gifts in December, is putting a book or two on your wishlist -- and/or buying a book you loved as a gift for someone who might also enjoy it. Gift cards are great but some of my favourite books were gifts, inscribed by people I love.

Y'all, discoverability is harder than ever. With Twitter all but gone and publishing being --in a mood-- your favorite authors are floundering. We don't know how to reach our fans or find new readers. Telling someone about a book you love is a really big deal. That's the #1 reason people buy books!

Halloween has become one of my favorite days. Seeing kids more excited about books - many of which were written by friends, rather than candy, is priceless (although they get both at our house). One child even said they’ve been waiting all year for this. Me, too, little neighbor, me, too!🥹🥰📚🍫🎃👻
