For those wondering how I embed hyperlinks in some posts: I use deck.blue on my desktop computer (SUPER EASY! See my quickie how-to video) and StackEdit.io to doublecheck my markdown before I post. Esp useful for those who want to provide links to more info (book info, etc) without being spammy.

imagine if web penalized links. that would be pretty wild right but no, our Discover doesn’t penalize links! (other custom algos could implement different strategies if they wanted to)

if you haven’t been here for a while, here are some of the things the team has been working on!

recent improvements: - much better search - basic dms - discover feed is now more simcluster-y (expect this to keep getting tuned) - discover feed has “show less” and “show more” buttons - notifications and badges should work more reliably lots of stuff in progress including a revamp of feeds

I love it when there's clearly some kind of bluesky drama going on and I have no idea what it is. I just sit here happily going through my discover feed clicking "show more like this" on every cat photo.

this makes no sense. it's the wrong tool for the job. you want to be using a sparse adjacency matrix to store your data, and then operate on it. will be orders of magnitude faster than this.

Just in case you hadn't heard, Bluesky has free algorithmic choice. You are in control of what you see here. Don't trust the algorithm, choose your algorithm. Or write your own.

Bluesky doesn’t just have one algorithm - we have 1000s! Discover is our flagship algorithmic feed, but developers can build feed generators that use any algorithm they can dream of! We love algorithms, but we don’t want to lock you in one - hence why you get to choose!

"Like ME. Love ME. Engage with ME." only works on algorithm sites. And that's only IF the algorithm site already respects you for a large following/lots of engagement that you prolly earned from… engaging with others once upon a time. (/agree w/ ⬇️)
