also they don't really even believe that argument themselves because they report on obviously untrue things that he supposedly believes like "donald trump believes that there shouldn't be a national abortion ban" if they think it will make him look better, as Dana Bash did on her show two days ago
one of the most cowardly arguments i keep seeing from columnists is that nothing breaks through with trump supporters, so it’s a waste of time reporting on what he believes. this should be seen as a critically damning failure on behalf of the fourth estate. this means you failed. it’s not a pass.
The way that a national abortion ban under Trump will happen will be almost exactly like how they tried to do it in Virginia. They'll pitch something like a 12 or 15 week ban as "a limit, not a ban," and while voters wont buy it, reporters like Bash will pretend to believe them.
