i hold few left tendencies in more contempt than anprims. industry and human ingenuity gave us the CASE axial-flow combine and 45 foot grain header for a reason.
god my friend explained how an axial-flow combine worked a while back and i was just kicking the floor and yelling for an hour
mostly i get Like This about large-scale chemical processes and everything Norman Borlaug ever did but it's all connected anyways aaaaaaaaa
i'm a fucking poser and don't actually know how the older kind of combine harvester *actually* works offhand - 'axial flow' because the threshing action is done by passing the grain through a bigass cylindrical rotor, which is way the shit faster/higher bandwidth than... whatever we used before that
no, that's the grain header, which cuts the crop and shuffles it into the harvester itself. the "axial flow" is up in the body, a big cylidner that separates the grain out from the straw
before IH came up with the big drum that gives the case-ih axial-flow its name there were a bunch of designs that used basically a series of "walking" sieves or shaker plates
In terms of electric motors it's radial and axial, but I think radial flow combine would look something like an oil tanker, but with the tank up front?
