Moody and mournful, about aspects of self that are sacrificed and then missed. Packs a lot in a relatively small space. Not directly linked (I think) to Vanessa's "How to Travel Safely in Faerieland" but has that mundane/magical somber feeling and a big dose of far future. Great quick read!

This is a very nice thing to honor Eirik, so if you've been waiting to snag this one, now is a great time.
Mike of From Beyond Press let me know that fbp is donating all proceeds from sales of ESCALATORS TO HELL: SHOPPING MALL HORRORS for the rest of July to the Children's Organ Transplant Association in memory of Eirik Gumeny. Get it from thewebsite, or the zon, or wherever.

Sad news. I was delighted when Metaphorosis published and podcasted my story "Heart Moon" in April 2023. Here's a thread of some outstanding Metaphorosis stories.

Very sad to hear that @metaphorosis.bsky.social magazine is to close. Morris was a very patient and kind editor when I worked with him on 'The Astronaut Tier' and he made the story immeasurably better with his thoughtful notes. magazine.metaphorosis.com/story/2018/t...

"Dylan hadn’t been expecting to see shades of her own past, her own trauma, in an other-dimensional hyena-monster." A good story by Eirik Gumeny, a writer and editor I only recently became acquainted with, and who, more recently, died. I'm sad he's gone.

The news is out. The current special set of monthly stories in Metaphorosis is going to close out their 100-issue run. It's a bittersweet thing: the end of an era, but also a well-earned (and hopefully restful) chapter for Morris et al. after almost a decade of bringing stories to publication./1

Hello, writers & editors. Today I'd like to hear some opinions on the adage "kill your darlings" as I puzzle through a dilemma in my current project. Kill or nurture? Also, for context, I'm not a helpless little thing. I'm confident about writing and it's rare that I'm of two minds on anything.
