One of the best things ive learned from making comics is that the best way to learn is to dive right in. You can do practice and read up on rules and form but itll never fully prepare for it. And honestly, those early, clumsy comics are still some of my favorite ive ever made

be less afraid to create clumsy comics. awkward tangents. amateur lettering. weird sequentials and pacing. You Can Just Make it. you dont need to be trapped in a cycle of perfectionism and imposter syndrome when you could have a finished work instead. print that thing out and staple it!!!

These two never showed up in each other’s comics beyond sometimes sharing a cover which is all fine and well; personally I’m not a big fan of crossovers and multiverses and I like that they have their own individual shit going on, but also. But also. They’d be super fun together.

Build RESILIENCE by having the goddamn gall, the f*ing punk-ass zeal to be bad at something, and continuing being bad at it, until you start to get good. Because that's how building any skill at all works. Go do the things you want to do, do them BADLY. You're rad, you got this 👍✨

I've really been looking forward to #portfolioday. Over the last couple of years I've written and drawn Batman, the X-Men and Conan. No one asked me to. And I have done Lottie Grote comics at three major US indie publishers (and one Spanish one), as if she was Groo The Wanderer in the 1980s.
