This is a subtweet about Frankenstein because I don't want to be a dick, but I also want some facts out there. 1. Most novels at the time were anonymous. We can't make definite judgements about why Mary Shelley's name wasn't on it. It was common practice. The novel was barely respectable. 1/?

My wonderful grad advisor once diagnosed why a lot of my academic writing read as convoluted & dull (he prob didn't use those words): I give too many caveats & scope conditions BEFORE stating the main point; they almost always belong afterward Still today, regularly, I realize this is my problem

random side note: the best traveling you can do by car is from TN to Kerala. We drove from Tirunelveli to Thiruvananthapuram by car, simply the best views you'll ever get to see. Unfortunately the enjoyment was cut short by me getting carsick.
