I also continue to find the theory that Dems will obviously profit from centering themselves in Trump's spiral to be really baffling. Is this based on the press goodwill they have or your own fuzzy feelings about Joe Biden?
If they're going to insist on turning everything into a debate between Dems & Republicans, we have to have Dems out there making points forcefully, & "Trump is a felon" is a great point to force. But people lose me when they argue Biden should be out talking about this. That's what flacks are for
But also he gave a speech where he said that the jury, who is just like you and me, came to this conclusion and he was glad to see the process play out? Like, I get it's not "fuck that guy" and it would be satisfying for partisans, but it's weird to pretend it's not happening
Conversely, let Biden be Biden. Do the equivalent of calling Peter Doocy a “Dumb Son of a Bitch”, but for Trump. Biden’s “Will you shut up, man” from the debates still gets brought up, 4 years on.
Biden is this close to just whipping out a block of Kerrygold and saying “hot damn, we do that?” to Doocy. I would not have been able to hold myself back and that is why he’s a successful politician and I’m not.
