Actual "concerns" that hold UBI or social aid back: - "Need someone to suffer worse than me" - "Unfair to those who earned their wealth (could be me someday)" - "What if a type of person I don't like gets money?" - "They'll use it wrong" (usually thinking "Black folks will use it to buy drugs" 🙄)
The absolutely wild thing is: This goes for ALL social aid. Just *giving people some fucking money,* literally going "OK, how much did you need?", cutting checks, and waving them out the door? COSTS LESS and HAS BETTER OUTCOMES than the current system's bureaucracy and means testing, EVERY TIME.

And other Reagan-style musings that folks don't stop to actually deconstruct 🙃 Spending more money to ensure only the "right people" receive aid, only people who pass some biased test, rather than just distributing aid to all those who need it, is a deeply unsettling practice

There are always going to be people who game the system, but any amount of damage they cause pales in comparison to the amount of damage that continues to happen to everyone we fail to assist. UBI should 100% be happening and we should be taxing the rich to do it.

If we stopped giving military aid to corrupt fascists, that would free up enough cash to end poverty for millions of people.
