Computers have never been good at doing math. They've been good at calculations. Now they're getting fairly decent at math.

I see your point that calculations are essentially utilization of math, but I’d argue that LLMs are still pretty terrible at both.

They're not designed to calculate, and they are pretty good at math. Wonderful? No. But I've also seen a lot of math education majors whose skills weren't all that much better...
