Amusing, but it’s worth noting that this study did not involve walking on 👠. They wore flat Chuck Taylors with wedges in them. So balance wasn’t an issue.
Note that 'more efficient walking' means using less energy to do the same task. Because we've been begging for a way to burn fewer calories while walking. Wear heels, and you'll need to walk a longer distance to get the same exercise benefit you got before heels!
As someone who grew up in Vermont, I walk heel-heavy because it's the best way not to trip and fall when walking on uneven, sloped, or slippery surfaces.
And, of course, perpetual wearing of high-heeled shoes will shorten your Achilles tendon.
The study use Chuck Taylor shoes....those flat shoes aren't supportive at all. They should compare a proper tennis shoe.
Flats like ballet flats are really bad for your feet. You need arch support!
