Garden report: the extreme heat and dryness has done in a portion of the garden but some things are thriving. Zinnias, sunflowers, gomphrena are happiest. 🌱

Garden report: sunflowers starting to do their thing. We have a flock of about 20 goldfinches who hang out in the garden who will enjoy these 🌱

Garden report: our veggies are suffering in this extreme heat and drought but the wildflower patch is persevering. Lots of this red sage(?) at the moment along with brown-eyed Susan and our zinnia patch is also thriving. A lovely drenching thunderstorm would be welcome 🌱

I cannot take a picture that does it justice nor properly describe the sheer number of buzzy busy creatures contained within this modest garden but it is a wonder in person. Life upon life upon life 🌱

Garden report: zinnias starting to do their thing. One of the few annual flowers we plant, but they grow so well from seed and put on such a show all summer that it seems worth it. I spied what I suspect is a rabbit's nest within so we may see little ones soon 🐇🌱

The #oriole pair in the garden sings a duet. He of territory and pride and a warning. She of nest and hopes and the joy of the warmth of sunshine after a dreary winter. Such disparate themes, yet they blend into a harmony most pleasing to the ear. I would I knew such lover's bliss. #whistpr
