I’m not arguing that there aren’t openly fascistic and/or authoritarian tendencies by Trump and others but calling him or Trumpism fascism also risks letting it off the hook as something almost foreign, an overseas 20th century creature, when really Trump isn’t Hitler, he’s George Wallace & Nixon
I have written two full-length plays this year, a short one, and am nearly half way through a third. I’ve thrown two others away. I’m the one who warns people against writing too much, and yet.. I had to write two a year in school. That was hard. I’ve never written so much in my life.
I used to like it when people did year end roundups of their work on Twitter. I’d love it if we could do it here, even if the dorks who run this place don’t know how to thread tweets
One of the best repeated compliments my last play has gotten - some version of, ‘Wow, I don’t like any of these people, but I’m really interested in them.’
He was in The Entertainer but his first real experience of this was The Caretaker, which was just the original cast doing the play in a real house in Notting Hill. Noël Coward put up most of the money.
