wasn't the land stolen from the Indigenous tribes by other Indigenous tribes? And they had it stolen from then, and so on?

it’s hard to say how often before the euros got here... certainly afterwards there was quite a lot of shuffling. like where i live now in ontario is legally six nations land, given as reward for loyalty to the british crown, but had been home to the neutrals before they were destroyed by the seneca

my newfoundlander innu and mi’kmaq ancestors supposedly only migrated to newfoundland following the french traders from the quebec mainland after the beothuk had died out there. so in that case we didn’t kill them, but you could still say we supplanted them
