oh the US soccer team got beaten by a team they were meant to beat? Guess you're more like England than you want to admit

US and England playing each other and somehow both losing 0-0

Or the score would keep escalating upwards on both sides due to a tragic and laughable series of own goals.

I believe the only CONCACAF rep to advance is…Canada?!?

on paper, game should’ve been a landslide for uruguay if they didn’t spend the entire match trying to murder each other. i hope you enjoyed the garra charrua experience.

Oh to be clear I don't know anything about whatever happened

At least the US doesn't have a King! .... oh wait a minute, breaking news

Sure. We ignore our constitution too

Honestly, we really are England. Getting smoked by "worse" teams. A team less than the sum of its parts. Perpetual disappointment.

Yet England is *still* the odds-on favorite to win the Euros, based, I assume, on the strength of their remarkable record of (checks notes) one single tournament win over their 150+ year history.

They aren’t odds on favourites, and England weren’t playing World Cups or Euros 150 years ago.

And yet today's betting line has them as favorites over Spain and, in 150 years, they have one tournament victory. England has never won a European Championship, unlike Greece and Denmark.

They still aren’t odds on though. The reason England are short priced is it’s because it’s English bookies that make the odds. They are going to take far more bets on them than any other team, so the price is always shorter to protect their liabilities.

Yes, they are the "favorite" but not the favorite. And don't get me wrong. I'm not hating on England. I feel bad that the team has to endure such abusive treatment from the media. The coverage of wins (on both sides of the pond) is full of disappointment, inadequacy, even venom. It's sad.

It’s US Soccer nobody expects anything good to happen

Uruguay has won the Copa Cup, what, 5 times....pretty sure the U.S. has won it less times. Like once in 2016.
