"These escalations against students are a choice. Police can be patient, even passive. The Texas DPS proved that when they loitered outside the ongoing slaughter of grade-schoolers." www.momleft.com/p/the-kids-t...
The Kids The Guns Are Forwww.momleft.com The same police force that failed Uvalde children is arresting peaceful student protesters at UT Austin. It's not about safety. It's about order.

"When a DPS officer marches into a protest with a baton in hand & 3 rifle magazines in his vest he is not there to protect students. He is not a peacekeeper but the protector of war abroad. His weapons are an implicit threat against US students, in service of an explicit threat against Palestinians"

Biggest thing I learned in occupy: Riot shields are primarily for starting riots, or at least trying.

They call themselves riot police after all

They have a fancy name here. Lol according to Wikipedia the DOI and City Council have both called for further regulation. Putting up the DOI mission for reference.

White supremacists openly marching screaming about genocide and fighting with counterprotesters - state governments: "If we send in police it'll just escalate things."

You have to admit there's a certain logic there. The Nazis would fight back, the students won't. Maybe the solution is for the students to arm themselves.

DPS is just a collection of unintelligent mouth breathers. Sat next to one a few years ago and he told me he wanted to be be a forest ranger but didn't have the grades so he applied to where they did require decent grades: the Texas DPS.
Avatar
Ugh. Didn't require good grades.

I remember that. It's hard to get smart people to do bad stuff.
Avatar
Sadly, it’s only slightly more difficult to get smart people to do horrible things.

They also pinned Uvalde parents to the ground in the elementary school parking lot during the shooting for attempting to act.

JFC That detail escaped me.

I can never forget it. I honestly don't know how there hasn't been a "suspicious pattern" of cops in that area suddenly disappearing, never to be seen again.

One cop sat on his hands and did nothing while HIS FUCKING WIFE was murdered in her classroom.

The shooter was still alive and one or two parents did get through and get their kids out. It was insane. LEO were useless.

oh Kelly went the fuck off hell yeah

Policing is more about controlling social order than fighting crime these days. Disruptions are bad for Business, er, I mean “the collective good.”
Avatar
Similar arguments used for forcing people back into cars/commute into downtown business districts. The collective good means buy your lunch downtown and rent office space -- instead of working from home. As defined by CHAMBER OF COMMERCE

Good call. Historically and these days. Always.

Cops are only brave against peaceful, unarmed people. It's why Black Panther patrols worked.
