My pal gave me a 2CD comp of The Beat last week and I've played it a lot... not so celebrated as Madness or The Specials but so inventive and joyful to listen to. Maybe cos they were a bit more malleable/changeable they can sound like a few different bands but a great window into early 80s UK pop.

For a guy who was in 300 films and basically stole every single one of them, KLUTE is a remarkable standalone, where - yes, he's excellent (is it his only titular role??) - he's providing negative space for Jane Fonda to completely emerge as one of the greatest film stars. The noble humility of it.
