For all my English speaking people. People outside Mexico getting excited that we will have our first woman president (admittedly something the US has never had) But this is actually a "monkey paw" scenario. Yes, you wanted a woman president? These are the two options (and both are terrible people)

I heard something about maybe blurring the line between police and the military and thought, oh, oh no, that never ends well.

Completely but there are two main problems here or several. Police has been highly penetrated by drug lords, military seems to be the only arm that could be trusted - this might not be true by experience. The president putting hands where it can show command more easily is essential, but not right.

A double edged sword as always, just as the oil policies. However it is true that renewables did not create a large development due to possible inconsistencies in the applied policies. Having a large portion on the population in poverty made them to trade the other road...it is a difficult balance.

If there is a silver lining in all of this, small as it is, is that a lot of the middle to high classes in Mexico are having an absolute fit bc they lost so hard. They honestly lied to themselves thinking that a 6 year campaign of calling the lower class bums and thieves, would win them an election.

I imagine they will double down on efforts to make it very hard for "a certain element" to vote. That's what they've done here :(

She’s not the person who appears to be. She has an endless list of corruption scandals and is responsible for the deaths of many people as Mexico City’s mayor. On top, she belongs to the current party in power, which happens to be one of the most corrupt and under the control of drug cartels.

Minimum wage doubled under AMLO, and poverty plummeted. As AMLO's successor, Scheinbaum is not a saint (as others are quick to note) but life in Mexico--despite its ongoing cartel issues--is improving. That's good news for everybody.
