Meanwhile you’ve got people on Ancestry or whatever site just blindly accepting all clues that you’ve got to wade through.

Don't forget the lies in the records. Know my Irish "Uncle Joe" as being survived only by his sister. He was a married family man who ran off with my relative (not his sister). Those Catholic church records might be used in the future. Found out he was Protestant years later, too.
