i've been very down on the idea of swapping out biden, but i agree with almost everything in this piece and it's the most persuasive argument i've read so far. the main problem is that i do not believe any of the dems ready to toss aside biden right now are up for the reckoning this piece prescribes

I don't get it when people point out that Project 2025 is "nothing new." Yes, obviously, right-wingers have been fanatics for decades. They were blowing up abortion clinics and shooting doctors when I was a kid. But, as you may have noticed, their political vision has kind of been coming together.

i’ll tell you what, man, if biden manages to survive and win another term, i hope he and his aides remember that it was mostly the ancient centrists — not the progressives and not the younger dems — who came behind up him with the knives, and that he responds in kind.

There was no GOP party platform in 2020, and Trump wants to shrink the proposed 2024 one. He opposes providing detail on how radical his second term will be because he knows its unpopular. Make no mistake: Project 2025 was written by Trump appointees & loyalists. Its their shared agenda.

even trump’s campaign staff (i assume he didn’t write this) knows that the reactionary, authoritarian agenda that’s project 2025 is going to be unpopular with the average voter.

In the immediate aftermath of November 2016 my spouse and I sought out a way to fight back and wound up in an activist meeting that was intensely uncomfortable. It was clear “normies” weren’t welcome. The woman’s march and hashtag resistance orgs were welcoming and way more active.
