161 years ago today the 1st Minnesota Regiment sacrificed itself at Gettysburg and saved the Union. 262 men made the sacrificial charge directly into the advancing enemy line. 215 became casualties in under 5 minutes, a rate of 82%. The highest rate for any surviving unit in US military history.

All I have to do to cause torrential rain is take time off for concrete work. Keeping this in mind for the next drought.

We all feel this way. But it's vital to realize that the median American is this person. Their understanding of how government works is like how you or I understand calculus or biology or some other class you took in high school and haven't thought about since.

Saw a post recently about how yesterday's decisions woke someone up to how important voting is, as the only way to get the right type of judges onto SCOTUS, & consciously restrained myself from posting a deeply unhelpful "IT TOOK YOU UNTIL NOW TO GET THIS" that bubbled up from my soul.
