The fact that people are even talking about a completely new ticket is insane. Giving up every last shred of incumbency advantage and removing your ability to talk about the achievements of the last administration just so you can run Gavin Fucking Newsom, what are we doing here.

That's the real problem, no one telling him he has to go is addressing the implications of names on ballots and an opposition that is lusting after a chance to call the election into enough legal question to make the winner irrelevant ...

maybe the single most alarming thing about this moment is the extent to which the press appears to have decided that Trump winning again is fine and good and worthy of cheerleading the deportation squads will be greeted by soft focus profiles on the good family men running them

It's pretty astonishing that the current POTUS is getting bullied out of a reelection bid bc the paper of record threw a hissy fit he wouldn't sit down with them, while the former POTUS, a convicted felon who wants to deport 20 million Americans gets coronated. Nixon is so pissed.

If I could wave a magic wand I'd replace him ... But that's not how democracy works and so, unless he decides to or he actually dies, he is our candidate ...

Remember that Dr Who plot line where that lady was bad at being a prime minister and as The Doctor walks away to leave he just quietly asks someone "don't you think she looks tired?" That's what the last few weeks have felt like ...

I do wonder if there are a bunch of "former Republicans" who are hoping to round up all the "centrists" after the Republican cult (someday hopefully) implodes ... And using "liberal media" to help ...

Yeah. Marketing is a form of persuasion that doesn't involve making an argument. Preaching also doesn't involve presenting the best case using facts Trump uses emotive utterances to make certain people say, "amen!" He markets himself as the answer to their frustrations and grievances

It sounds so convincing in liberal land, until it suddenly dawns on you that salesman shtick is about making arguments to persuade people & conservatives have been racking up wins for generations doing this while liberals sputter over facts.

Honestly if, as a member of the democratic party, you aren't helping to find the next generation of people and giving them space to lead you are just after your own personal power ...
