I just want to understand how they got the cats to sleep in the cat hammocks. Because any time I designate a space for cats to sleep, my cats are like "ABSO-FUCKING-LUTELY NOT" and proceed to sleep (on the velvet chair, under the bed, in my hoodie on the floor, etc.)

Maybe they put the hammocks up and then told the cats under no uncertain terms that they were absolutely not allowed to sleep there, end of story?

Do you know if cats where indigious in America? Or were they brought from Europe?

They were brought from Europe! We have wild cats here of course like lynx, mountain lion, jaguar, etc. but there is very little evidence that any domestication or co-habitation took place. A handful of burial sites where it looks like a wild cat may have had a "pet" role but not much else.

So interesting, I’ll have to jump into this rabbit hole. Thank you!

Our cat prefers to sleep on top of my husband because he’s a back sleeper and his legs create a cat-sized blanket hammock.
