I literally went to a Catholic high school in Oklahoma, and even there we didn’t have a Bible in every classroom, nor were we taught the Bible unless our parents opted into Catholicism class.
Oklahoma State Superintendent Ryan Walters issued this memo today requiring teachers in all schools to keep a Bible in their classroom and teach from it as a historical document. (Via KOCO 5 News)
I know from experience that were I to teach the Bible as a text, they'd freak, because I'd start with the Hebrew and Greek text, discuss the way manuscripts were emended and altered, and the effects of politically motivated editing and translation.
