People telling me the NYT isn't in the tank for Trump. Then they run this without mentioning that those visits were in regards to Sen Capito's bill. A Republican Senator, mind you, so it's clearly not some Dem cover up.
Breaking News: A Parkinson’s expert visited the White House eight times in eight months from last summer through this spring, according to official visitor logs. The administration has said that President Biden has no signs of the disease.

Biden signed the bill a week ago! You'd think the NYT chief White House reporter would know this. bsky.app/profile/josh...
"National Plan to End Parkinson’s Act" signed on July 2, 2024 (this is not mentioned in the NYT reporting)

It's so frustrating for a lot of reasons, but I think about the actual reporters who get screwed by head-up-their-asses editors. There are some great journalists there who do important work, but they get lost in the sea of garbage.

Don't disagree with this. But if I was a reporter and looked at the front page of the pub I worked for and saw what they see, I don't think I'd be able to defend my actions sticking around

Another reason editors and publishers love media consolidation: reporters can’t just quit and quickly find another job.

Same. Though I say that as a 45yo who's been laid off 4x since 2008, so I know what it's like to not have a paycheck/health benefits -- if I'm in my 20s/30s and don't know that I can survive w/o the NYT imprimatur behind me, I probably stay until I find something else.

This would require the White House correspondent to track and report on administration policy, which the Times does not believe is their White House correspondents job.

That's a lot of advance planning on Capito's part, just to get the NYT to fall into her trap.

Jesus Haploid Christ, the best-case scenario here is still impeachably bad judgment "oh no we accidentally ran the intern's story, no one who had any editorial oversight was awake"

New idea. You hire these people that can look into things and report on them. You can call them lookintoers. Ok, maybe that name needs a little work. They'll investigate while doing journalism. So, journastigate. Eh, we can workshop it.
There were 2 authors of this story, Peter Baker (ha) and an actual health care and public affairs reporter, who now has likely trashed her reputation.

And that's why they put that headline under "Breaking News", because their reporting is fucking broken.
