Tongue in cheek, I think motorcyclists who don’t want to wear helmets should be a) compelled to donate their organs and b) not be be allowed heroic lifesaving measures
Yeah I think I’m leaning morally and practically towards opt out
So long as they properly explain that right to non English speaker, ppl w disabilities, etc
2 stoned 4 cites but a lot of law and ethical philosophy has been written about the rights of the dead, including the right not to have one's remains desecrated, but is mixed up with ideas that you might have posthumous value as commodity to your family. i personally am anti-law & pro-choice #body
I think there are a lot of religious restrictions around it. Additionally, depending on where you live and your history, there can be issues with your organs/tissues being accepted.
Barring that, yes.
Opt out sounds good, though tying it to drivers license leaves some people out. I opt out of donating my corneas because mine are the kind that need transplants & I think it’s helpful to list it (vs auto taking all organs/tissues & then finding they’re no good)
Well, making it mandatory would make the word 'donor' inappropriate but that's of less concern than people who desperately need organ transplants dying because relatives of the deceased can't be rational due to their grief. Fuck it, make everyone a mandatory organ farm.
