This is the optimistic, best-case take
SCOTUS is gonna say in like July that "well of course former presidents don't have immunity that would be silly" while functionally letting him get immunity by delaying it until he's within shooting distance of being president and able to order DOJ to dismiss his own case

IMHO, the best likely outcome (for the rule of law) is that the majority decides there is official act immunity for Presidents (defined broadly), but remands the issue of whether Trump was acting in an official capacity to the trial court. That would leave the possibility of hearing the case again.

It's always dangerous to read too much into a cert grant. But this case is pretty unique. Reading @nycsouthpaw.bsky.social's post about the needless delay and my overall assessment of the current SCOTUS, I think a majority will find some form of official act immunity.

I am not sure I know what this even means, but, it does seem like if there were ever a court that was going to entirely poop the bed...this is that court
