Biden’s Bipartisan Infrastructure Law, The Inflation Reduction Act, & the CHIPS & Science Act are HUGE climate wins — they have started a clean energy transition & will double the amount of clean energy & emissions reductions we have by 2030. It’s the biggest thing ever. Now we need to do it again.
if there’s any issue on which “don’t let the perfect be the enemy of the good” applies to Biden it’s climate - the IRA has been a tremendous success beyond all expectations and the news on the renewable energy front is excellent depressing to see it lumped in with issues on which he’s actually bad

Any one of the hundred or so things Biden has gotten done on climate would’ve been a career-defining pop champagne climate win a decade ago. Now the US is just doing these every week. For ex: electric school buses, postal trucks, & transit buses - there’s twenty billion American dollars for these!

The things Biden has done on climate will help people not get sick from pollution and will meaningfully cut a lot of emissions. We can celebrate that and then get back to work getting emissions to zero fast and building climate-safe communities & looking out for each other for the rest of our lives.

The use of fiscal policies to embed change is something that the EU cannot accomplish. Very interesting stuff and we need more people like you in the climate scene to open it up for the wider context.

It affects Finnish industries and pension funds etc. as much as the Chinese and EU agendas do. Our politics doesn’t understand 5 % of the extent in Finland yet, possibly ever

It isn’t the fault of the current people involved. There was no university level degree type of preparation before, all of it was/is siloed and/or very exact.
Dumb question but are they actually getting spent and delivered?

talked to someone recently who told me about how much money the federal government is now able to spend on habitat preservation. far more than they've ever had before. something that's just completely under that radar and 100% because of the IRA

I think people get inured to big numbers because it's all billion this, trillion that, so there just isn't the internalization of how fucking BIG the investments in the IRA are for climate action. Like a third of the solar capacity in the US was installed in the last, like, two years!

We need to do it again, but just as important, we need to stop them from UNDOING it.
