Really cool and enlightening visiting Chairman Fred Hampton’s childhood home while I was in Chicago. #FreeThemAll
As mentioned in our most recent episode, while in Chicago Craig visited the Hampton House, the childhood home of Chairman Fred Hampton, which has been saved by the Black Panther Cubs and converted into a museum to honor Fred’s legacy. www.savethehamptonhouse.org/contribute

Finally saw Furiosa. Of all the weirdness in the Mad Max movies, the guy with the nose cover thing and the nipples cut out of his suit is still the most unsettling part. 4/5 stars.

By coincidence, I watched TO LIVE IN DIE IN LA (1985) and AUTO FOCUS (2002) back to back.... If you’re into movies where Willem Dafoe secretly records himself having sex then I have an incredible double feature recommendation.

LEAVE THE WORLD BEHIND continues the rich Hollywood tradition of burdening its black characters with the responsibility of teaching white people to chill the fuck out. Black folks (and black characters in film) don’t exist to teach bougie white people about tolerance.

Been trying to meditate more. Woke up early this morning, did a meditation in the morning dusk reflecting on inner peace. Feeling refreshed, turned the lights on to discover my dog had diarrhea all over the house while I slept. At peace. Third eye open.

On our most recent episode on Barbara Kopple’s HARLAN COUNTY, USA, we talked a lot about some of the awesome folk music that came out of the Harlan County Strikes of the 1930s and 1970s. Here is a thread of some of our favorites!

Kinda crazy that a Fincher film is out to this little fan-fare. I know there is some excitement, but the fairly muted response—as compared to, say, Gone Girl just a decade ago—seems like another major sign-post in the paradigm shift.

On the most recent ep of our podcast (Red Rose Film Club, available wherever!), we discussed the self-portrait that right-wing grifter Patrick Bet-David commissioned, showing him surrounded by his “contemporaries”: Tupac, Einstein, MLK, the Shah of Iran, and others. A true work of self-delusion.
