Howwwww can the build quality be so consistently bad across the board? It’s not like all the cybertrucks even have the same issue. They’re all ramshackle in DIFFERENT WAYS
when a system with a lot of protections frays, it starts coming apart in all manner of different ways. Its inertia resists complete collapse. Enough people inside try to keep it afloat.
The thing is cars are already ruthlessly economized. His factory makes fewer cars than it did when it was owned by a Japanese car maker which optimizes around what tasks robots do best and what tasks humans do best instead of forcing robots to do it all
Most car brands share common protocols and platforms even between competing manufacturers because it gives them a stronger negotiating position to the Chinese subcontractors and steel makers. The original Tesla is a GE skateboard e-car chassis with a Lotus body on top with Panasonic batteries.
I will also point out...soda cans and Legos are physically small. Cars are ....not. that makes holding that precision so much more difficult (also completely unnecessary, by the by).
I have a great book on tolerancing he should really 🤦♀️😂🤷♀️
Yeah, I teach a capstone astro class in which we have this conversation - moving away from ANSWERS towards how we actually answer questions. It is very fun, and students absolutely have to stretch from their assumptions about what is necessary/"better"
My own kids hate it when I do this—in the hopes that I can teach the "how do you know if you are getting the right answer" parts along the way. JUST TELL ME HOW TO DO THE PROBLEM DAD. 🤦🏼
I used to TA an Intro to Programming class Socratically and after one night class, I was locking up when 2 guys shoulder checked me and said they would get me fired
I got some whiplash when 2 other students profusely thanked me for making it finally clear to them.
Drop me an email! I'm on sabbatical, and am doing some changes before I teach it again, but always happy to share and chat. It's a mix of skills upgrade + observing project across the quarter (10 weeks)
I have no doubt they attempted to do that because there’s been no Tesla model refresh for any of their other cars for many years. LEGO and soda cans get away with it because they’re modular and have minimal special parts fabrication unlike the Cybertruck which is nearly all special parts fabrication
Every time he addresses any technical subject , it’s more and more obvious he has no fucking idea how any of this actually works. Pulling some made-up bullshit platitude out of his ass is his entire personality
That makes me laugh every time I see it.
Fucking clown was asking for engine cylinder tolerances on absolutely every part of the car, regardless of function or manufacturing method.
