I think I saw that the trans case was aluminum on this. There were four instances where I forgot to unhook something and had to back up slightly. But I don’t think I damaged anything.

First time I’ve done that absolutely single handedly. Last time I had a couple teens (one at a time) who could be extra pairs of eyes and hands. First time, I just did what Dad told me.

Had a sudden strange craving for it. Maybe it’s a desire to be a boy again and live with Mom and Dad.

I’m down to the only thing that’s in good condition on the Galaxie, and it comes out now.

Do they still make canned Pork ‘n Beans?

I fell in despair yesterday evening and night because it was too hot to work in the shop and I started thinking about the world. Reminder: NEVER THINK, ONLY WORK. Got drunk to drown that out. Now, hungover, I am trying to whip myself into frantic activity to avoid thinking again.

they want and need everyone to believe that it is hopeless and that nothing matters and that nothing will ever get better, but, like, they’re wrong. they’re liars. they lie, depression lies, this whole thing is a fucking con to get you to think that submission is better than liberty.
these people cannot win and they know it, their entire schtick is pretending that the reich on the march will keep everyone quiet and scared, but, again, we do not have to believe them, and if we do not, they lose.

So I just earned $1,000 for 90 minutes work.

Good philosophy, except I’m disassembling a ‘62 Ford.
Let it alone, let’s to billards.

The Galaxie may live. I have found a frame. Weighing whether I have the necessary skills…

John Lurie and I had a few exchanges on the bird site. He was really mad about a New Yorker profile. After we got thru that, he said the nicest guy in movies was Willem Defoe and declared Hackman was a jerk. But, to me, Hackman instantly elevates everything he’s in. I miss him.

Not about the post, but I wanted to tell you your feed on BS is a bright spot in a dark time. Thank you.

That’s where I’m at. Along with the completed and 3/4 done projects. Not to mention smaller, one week woodworking projects for myself and repairs for my handyman clients. This weekend, my daughter and I rebuilt her ‘98 Grand Marquis taillights. It’s busy here.

Kinda thinking of hanging onto the motor. Find another 62 with a good frame and a missing or blown motor.
Avatar
Right. My 1966 Mustang is that hybrid deal. I don’t really have the resources to swap a frame. I might try it if I had one.
Avatar
Sorry, didn’t know how much you knew about this kinda thing.

No. Unibody means the body does a lot of the stiffening. The body and frame are a single unit, and there really isn’t a continuous frame running from bumper to bumper. With this, the body does very little stiffening. The roof does some, I guess. The frame is bumper to bumper, like a pickup.
Avatar
The body is bolted to the frame. And it could be driven without any body parts at all.

Looks like I’m parting out this Galaxie.
Avatar
The trouble is I’m already more than a little in love with it — like I never was with the International. The IH frame is perfectly solid. Somehow, the juxtaposition says something about life.
Avatar
I sure am considering parting. Another car friend suggests taking my time and welding support plates on. The thing is, nothing about this hobby has anything to do with sensible choices.

Got under the car for the first time last night: three bad areas of rust. What should I do?

How do you lift a body off? Or should I part it? The damn thing runs and drives pretty well…
