If I had a list of books to read for students, I'd begin with Amitav Ghosh. That historical perspective is the most difficult but also transformative, as quickly as any information can be. Nobody I know from the climate scene in wealthy countries or demographics writes as accurately.

It always comes back to Wilhoit’s aphorism. “Conservatism consists of exactly one proposition, to wit: There must be in-groups whom the law protectes but does not bind, alongside out-groups whom the law binds but does not protect.”

Lobbying for unhealthy or dangerous things needs to be banned.
