It’s been consistently true over the last fifteen years that people, relatively calmly, sounding the alarm about an incoming political or social catastrophe have been quite rudely dismissed by what you could call the Sensible Liberal Class and then immediately proven right. Few learn a lesson.
Not the most terrifying thing but perhaps the most infuriating: every single thing we said about these fascist Republican fucks has been proved out and all the people who assured us that what is happening would never happen smoothly pivoted to yes it's happening but it will be fine.

Can we stop using words like activists for these people? They are not activists. This is not activism. This is what actually attempting to destroy civilization looks like.
Stop letting tiny groups of Christian fanatics decide what books your children can read

I am observing the British shitstorm in which a black person is insisting that being against bigotry means one is blinded by an ideology. Funny how somebody whose literal job is to be aware of discrimination IS promoting discrimination. 1/

If we had pinned posts here, I might but a line about automatically blocking anyone with cryptocurrency stuff in their profile. Or any "investments" really. Exceptions made for a few serious people, journalists, and nice folks. :) Consider this a PSA.

There will be protest today 18:30 at Sudebnata palata in Sofia. There was another murder. The perp who a while back came out had savagely beaten a woman, this time murdered a woman. The fucking COCAINE bear is the less dangerous option than some men.

Fillers should not be allowed legally under the age of 35. Also, only medical professionals should be allowed to do those. This should be enforced GLOBALLY. Geez.

I would gleefully turn off the system of the whole company in which that was published. At their homes, work, car. Just for a reality check.
Bitcoin consumes about 2.5% of US electricity, about the same as all residential cooling. An article decrying *that* electricity usage as a personal moral failing would be much less tone deaf.

We were with some friends on Friday who extremely excitedly invited us to their wedding. We looked confused because 4 months ago they already invited us. Apparently they were drunk the first time around and promptly had forgotten. 😂😂😂😂😂😂

It's worth mentioning, I think, that the only reason we have to go through this constant exhausting effort to prove our worth to live in the world is because a small group of billionaires have ginned up a public hate campaign against us, as the spearhead of a movement to roll back social progress.
I cannot begin to imagine how absolutely exhausting it must be for trans people to have to continue to remind everyone that their intrinsic human right to live authentically and fully does not depend on the “approval” of anyone else

Removing most or even many of these departments would mean ceasing to function as a university for all intents and purposes. Looking for cost savings by analyzing department “cash flow” is extremely short sighted, there are a lot of interconnected pieces here that are difficult to disentangle.

"oh, but she never set MY house on fire, so why should I care if she wants to set the houses of others on fire"? What an utter, utter twat that writer is.
Should I go with "Kathleen, do you know how to goose-step?" Or with wondering what kind of lampshade Martha-Ann Alito puts on her head when she's being the life of any party?

I find it hilarious how the "art degrees are not real degrees, they need to be cut" are now horrified that their IMPORTANT, valuable degrees are also being cut. Because the issue never was that there are "useless" degrees. They just want people uneducated.
It's like what just happened at West Virginia University. It was a farce. They cut graduate math programs. I think some (biomedical) engineering. And, physics IIRC. A lot of STEM. Extremely foolish when those programs lead to solid jobs and train the math and science teachers of a poor state. Nutz!
