they need to make an even smaller MacBook air, 12" or so. I need a purse sized laptop for those "shit is on fire" pings because I am not giving up the 16" pro
I mostly just ssh into things from my phone to kick stuff in an emergency. If i have to write code and my laptop isnt near then nobody is having a good time
i just got a this thing and it's pretty decent for a tiny thang, even with my large hands. only weird thing is Tab is fn-capslock, but it's gettin the job done. post typed on it
literally just shove a base model chip, 8gb of memory, and sell it for $600-800 to destroy the market. doesn’t even need a design update. i’ve been desiring a small thin client and there just isn’t anything right now
ohh now that i think of it. what you wanted existed en.wikipedia.org/wiki/12-inch...
it just sucked bc apple silicon wasn't a thing yet (and bad keyboards)
Apparently there are rumors the 12 inches might be appropriated as the "budget" entry model, but that hasn't really materialized. Still one of Apple's biggest missed opportunities, always astounded at how small that thing was.
once upon a time I had a sharp actius mm20 (1GHz transmeta crusoe, ati mobility radeon)
it was ~10.5" or so and perfect light luggable for emergencies
are you adverse to tablets?
May I ask your opinion? I will soon need to replace my 15” pro. Do you find the 16” to be significantly better or does the extra size make it more cumbersome for travel and getting around?
I've been using the 16" models for a decade so I'm probably not the right person to ask. I value screen real estate a lot because I won't want to wear my glasses when I use the computer
I moved from 15 to 16 about a year ago. It’s pretty much the same form factor. I still use the same laptop bag, above desk laptop stand thingy, couch swivel arm laptop table, etc. The only thing I noticed was OMG performance and battery life! (I went a ..while.. between updates this time.)
Good to know, thanks! My battery is on its last legs which I suspect is causing performance issues. But its a 2015 MBP and I'm not sure paying for battery replacement is cost effective in the long run. If the 16" screen isn't much different in real use, I may opt for a more recent refurbished 15".
I can’t say I noticed a huge difference on the screen. More pixels / higher res is nice, but not life changing. Also, I still kinda hate the notch, so there’s that…
