Sometimes a thread gets too heated. Now you can lock a thread retroactively so that only the people you specify (or nobody!) can reply.
Also: muting a thread now works more reliably.
I imagine that people continuing to post arguing with you, when you're locked out of arguing back, would be exasperating. But conversely I suppose "just mute it yourself and move on with your life" is likely the best move there anyway
I think it depends on the content of the continued discussion, but most of the stuff I'm thinking of should also be able to be reported on other moderation grounds. But that would require a functioning and well-supported moderation system and personnel... so...
