LOTS of Ash pics!

Ash is an evil mastermind. He meowed at Rich to lay on the bed with him. Once there, Ash curled up next to my pillow and meowed at me until I joined them. Of course I did. When I got in position, Ash then stood up and got into the "Please Hand Feed Me Second Breakfast" stance. He played us both!

I just got an email from my local greyhound rescue that Caliente, the dog track at Tijuana, is closing. If you're in southern California and thought about a retired racer this might be a great time to reach out to an adoption group. Retired track dogs make awesome pets.

If I hadn't already sold my soul for a cup of Earl Grey back in grad school, I'd be soul-putrefyingly tired right about now.

I buy Ethan's books because they're actually really good, and because he's a good human.
Writing the intro to the Backerkit page and some of you might find it uh...relevant.

I think my office visitor is a Black and Yellow Longhorn Beetle, but there seems to be so much variation in color patterns in not sure.

I love birds (a.k.a. floofy-pants dinosaurs) with a boundless passion, but goddammit, Song Sparrow in my backyard this morning at 4am: you are very, very loud, and I have not yet had my coffee.

Yesterday, my Akita-Shepherd client greeted me by gently nibbling on my forearm. I just learned this is called cobbing, and dogs apparently do this to show affection. Aww!

This fallen tree trunk must be filled with bugs, I keep seeing woodpeckers on it. I have to remember to sneak up on it cautiously so they don't fly off (Pileated Woodpecker) #birds #WoodpeckerWednesday 🌿

This is the largest bumblebee with the biggest set of pollen pants I've ever seen!

There was an even bigger difference in the comments received. All on Threads and all but one here were positive, constructive, or neutral (one person was just being a jerk, not a troll). Only 18% on X were positive or neutral. The rest were negative, many highly so.

A small update on this one: good morning! Make your coffee or tea with boiled water again this morning (or bottled water if you fancy), but there was a very interesting news story on CTV Atlantic last night about this. Did you see it? Summary below… 🧵
Most recent update from Halifax Water at 2:24pm saying...well, nothing new. For the life of me, I can't figure out why they've updated their message 3x so far during the very late morning and early afternoon. But they changed the colour of the map. Thanks, folks! Live in the pink? Boil your water.

Let's see: 5.5 hours of sleep, my busiest clinic of the week, and the slowest computer in the world decided to Skynet and shut itself down. Yaaaay!

#BirdGlamour celebrates the House Wren! Our bluebird boxes seem to attract a lot of House Wrens! Did you know that House Wrens like spiders, and not necessarily for eating? House Wrens will add spider egg sacs to their nests: once hatched, the baby spiders will eat House Wren nest parasites! 🧪🐡🐦🕷️

Ash wuvs his belly rubs, and will insist on one leg being held out like a banjo neck.
Nessy! Not a trap! She enjoys gentle belly pets! But will (gently) tell you when it's time to stop. Do NOT touch the peets.

Saw my first ever striped fishing spider as I was putting the canoe away. A big boi. Probably close to 5cm across. (Reminder I don't take well to burn it with fire shit. Don't like it? Block me)

Looking forward to posting the Bird Glamour today after I return home from cat sitting!

Saying this more to remind myself than anything. Times are brutal right now. Survive. Make art but survive.
