It’s not even noon and I have a wild story for everyone.

Here are keywords: — SSRN article ostensibly written by a law professor — false quote attributed to me — in a paper I never wrote — because it doesn’t exist — and because I don’t hold the opinions ascribed to me — but it sure sounds like something ChatGPT would do.

— Law professor claiming on hell site that a “research assistant” is to blame. Hell, I check the citations on ny students’ work. You mean to say you publish work under your own name and don’t even know the work you’re citing?

Is the research assistant named “C.G. Pt?”

Btw, if any of the folks engaging with this on Twitter @clancyny.bsky.social @kateclancy.bsky.social @dorotheabaur.bsky.social or anyone else has a. copies of her deleted tweets b. a copy of the paper she has now removed from SSRN, I’d be grateful!

It’s going on 4 PM and I have yet to receive an apology from the law professor who fabricated a quote and a paper in my name, then blamed it on a research assistant, then removed the paper. Do you think she’s maybe emailing me at my MIT address?
Avatar
Oh my God...THAT IS WHAT THE SUBJECT OF THE PAPER WAS?!?!
Avatar
It would not surprise me at all if her RA used ChatGPT and the law prof didn't notice. In my experience, the degree of research in law done by non-bylined research assistants is very out of step with other fields. The irony that so much of Lobel's work is generative AI boosting though...

Counting down to "this is performance art" defense.

The paper was * about * AI‽ Holy crickey!

Now it says: “Correction: The initial version of this article incorrectly attributed quotes to several authors, including John Danaher and Sarah T. Roberts. These quotes have been removed.”

In fairness, I fully believe that a law professor would be that lazy
